๐Ÿš€ Web3 Weekly Round-up #1 ๐ŸŒ–

Hey there, Iโ€™m Luca - lifelong startup nerd, crypto fanatic since 2016, and now keeping up with trends across web3 is my second full-time job.

Web3 is a wild and overwhelming place.

You shouldnโ€™t have to sort through all the fluff.

Check out my top 5 web3 tweets of the week ๐Ÿ‘€

๐ŸŒˆ #1 - Historic Fashion NFT

Itโ€™s pretty insane to see a DAO-driven fashion house on the cover of a fashion magazine that's been in print since 1921!

As profile pic (PFP) collections continue to dominate the NFT space, it's only a matter of time before apparel for PFPs becomes a thing. You can also see the apparel trend taking hold with major collections like HAPE and 10KTF.

๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™€๏ธ #2 - NFT Imitators

There's been a slew of projects recently trying to capitalize off of bluechip NFT collections like Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC).

I'm even in the Discord for a BAYC + Chain Runners crossover. I'm still very sus about it, and I havenโ€™t heard of any formal affiliation with the parent collectionsโ€ฆ

All that to say - be wary of any claimed affiliations that don't come directly from the parent collection. There's no regulation in the NFT space, it's easier than ever to spin up a project, and scammers are running pretty rampant.

๐Ÿคฌ #3 - Some People Newsโ€ฆ

This newsletter is not a gossip column, but sometimes, events like this are too important not to call out and may fly under the radar even for people active on Twitter.

TL;DR - Coopahtroopa (Cooper) is one of the biggest web3 Twitter influencers out there and probably the loudest voice in the space. I wouldn't be surprised if he's responsible for getting tens of thousands of people into web3 in some capacity.

The big news this week was the unearthing of some pretty horrible things Cooper said before he gained such a large following (click the thread if you really want to read more).

Cooper has since issued an apology, but this goes to show how the web3 community still needs to ask questions and do some diligence on its leaders, whether named or pseudonymous.

๐Ÿ’ธ #4 - Web3 Products

Greg isn't a pure web3 tweeter, but he has some great insights into community-building that he often applies to web3.

We have an awful lot of #2 (web3 and community are almost synonymous at this point), #4 (expensive af NFT collections), and #5 (DeFi, flipping NFTs, and more) in web3 right now.

On the whole, it feels like web3 is still working on #1 and #3. There are certainly some projects building for those kinds of needs, but they're few and far between right now. Food for thought.

๐Ÿ˜ฐ #5 - Bear Market?

LMAO ๐Ÿ˜‚ In case you haven't heard, ETH is down to low $3Ks from ~$4K about two week ago. Bear market? Maybe.

For increasingly more people in crypto, this is not their first rodeo though. Despite the market being down, the community doesn't seem to be taking it all that seriously.

In fact, NFTs as a whole have been in a bit of a bull run this week, essentially due to a 25% discount on their prior prices.

๐Ÿ”ฅ That's all for this week! Which tweet taught you something new? Which corners of web3 would you like to learn more about?
